THE GUILD IS MOVING…….

We have all been wondering and waiting and worrying about the pricing at Shepard Garden and Arts Center. The results are in - and we have been priced out of our traditional venue. The new rental price is around $200 per hour which equate to $800 per meeting. That is not the best use of the guilds money - so we have been on the hunt for a new home. Here are a few of the ones we looked at. There is a LOT to consider with each site: price, parking, accessibility for loading equiptment. The Golden Palms Center is wonderful, but we are unsure about the parking situation. The Turn Verein: ditto. This week we are going to
have a look at Reason Center. It looks hopeful but we have to see it in person to know. Last week we also went to Arden Park Rec Center. It has lots of parking and great pricing but the room seems a bit too small.
So you see, we have a LOT to consider. While your board is busy cruising the hood looking for a new home, please contact us if you have a venue we should consider. We might have to just give one or two new places a try to see which one fits us best. Please be open to changes as we settle into a new setting.
Life, weaving and spinning do go on while we search so here are a few of the things we worked on during the last few weeks. The Weavers Study Group had Barb E lead us in fabric analysis:
We literally put our heads together to work backwards. Our goal was to write out the weaving draft from a piece of fabric. We were successful? We're still working on it!!
We had 2 really great projects on display: this first one is a wonderful reversible FELTED tunic made by Stacie. The team jumped in and helped her cut sleeves and fit it just right.
The 2nd is Kaino's summer cotton double weave blanket.
Both projects so inspiring!
