About Us

The Sacramento Weavers and Spinners Guild began in 1946 as the Sacramento Weavers Guild. The purpose of the Guild is to encourage growth in the art of weaving, spinning, and dyeing through the interchange of ideas, research, and contact with experts in these fiber fields.

The Guild presents members with the opportunity to interact and share through meetings, workshops, and lectures. Current and former Members of the Guild include nationally known authors, instructors, weavers, and spinners.

We are an active Guild with over 200 members serving the greater Sacramento region. Our annual Open House in February is a popular community event and provides attendees the opportunity to view fiber projects produced and sold by Guild members. Guest presenters educate our members with topic presentations at the monthly meetings. Workshops (in person or by zoom) are offered to our members at reasonable rates. Workshops generally follow a monthly meeting but may be scheduled for other dates and locations.

The Guild hosts a variety of monthly weaving and spinning groups in addition to several member-only Facebook groups. The public Facebook group, Sacramento Weavers & Spinners Community Group is open to all weavers & spinners in our regional area. Membership in the Guild is required for all other groups.

Members of the Sacramento Weavers and Spinners Guild have access to a library of fiber related books, magazines and DVD’s and are able to rent various weaving and spinning equipment from the Guild.

Guild Meetings begin with Guild business followed by an educational program. After the program members and guests socialize, snack, and hold a raffle. Members are encouraged to bring snacks to share on the “hospitality” table. The Guild provides coffee and tea.

Guild meetings, programs and workshops now vary between online and in-person presentations to accommodate the different needs and wishes among both presenters and guild members.
