About

Samantha Iacobello will present a slide show about her journey to basket making with native California materials and display examples of her work. After her lecture and the raffle, she will lead a workshop in cattail weaving, free for all guild members. Make a coaster, a trivet, or . . . something else. Supplies will be provided.

Samantha Iacobello began weaving baskets and propagating willow in 2021 at her ecovillage, nestled in a deep canyon along the spring fed Jesus Maria Creek and its surrounding watersheds. She has created several community building projects that restore and conserve the health and legacy of local forests and wetlands and has experienced the direct positive impact of weaving baskets from wild foraged fibers. She hosts monthly basketry classes through her Sierra Foothills Basketry Guild, does demonstrations at local farmers markets and libraries, and works with several youth programs.
