COOL WEATHER BLOWS IN COOL PROJECTS

LET IT FLOW…………….
The October SWSG program and workshop were full of color and motion and learning. Sharlet Elms gave a us a fun and fact filled history of weaving and textiles. She focused on the fabrics "that move" and how they were developed. My favorite was seersucker - how it was developed in India in order to make fabrics that would be cooler against the skin. Denim was also a "fact"-sinating story. We had a good crowd and everyone was interested in our favorite topic: fabrics!! JOA

FABULOUS WORKSHOP OPPORTUNITY - ONLY A FEW SPOTS LEFT
Sharlet Elms will be leading a 2 1/2 day workshop next week, entitled "Fabrics that Move". That means structures that cause movement in your cloth, such as waffle weave, collapse weave, furrows, seersucker, ribs and cords. She will be providing all the necessary yarn, so this is a great chance to try weaving on some unusual yarns without investing in a lot of yarn to start with. LOTS OF DONATIONS WITH LOTS OF POSSIBILITIES……….
We have been very fortunate to get loads of donations lately. Some of them are small pieces of equipment you might like to use for a wintertime project. We received a whole box of cards for card weaving. It even included the loom you see here that holds your project so you dont have to tie it to a door knob.
