SCOTLAND IS ALL ABOUT THE PLAID

Sharing some of the fun photos I have from my recent trip to Scotland. Close your eyes and imagine tartans! In every shop window
the country is alive with color and plaids. Pick your family colors and pattern and go for it!!
There were tartan scarves, hats, blankets, shawls. There were kilts and blankets and mittens and towels. Here, there, everywhere! Fun to take in all the color.
We loved hearing about Scotland's mighty history from our great guides. One day we went out to a working sheep farm:
The wool industry in Scotland has collapsed so there are no more mills. The wools is sold for about a dollar a fleece and shredded for use in carpets, mattresses, etc. This farm had about 3000 sheep and the owner was happy to tell us all about it. He even let my husband try his hand at shearing.
We saw lots of interesting sites: CASTLES of course, hairy coos, and old tapestries.
We took a boat our on Loch Ness: sounds lame, doesnt it, but it was really fun. I didnt see her, though. The pipers were everywhere: busking in the city and entertaining us in several venues. They explained there only 9 notes on any bagpipe. No wonder the sounds all sound vaguely the same.
The above are just some funky sites. A patchwork pillow featuring the "hairy coo", a restaurant pillow made with old suit jackets - the buttons all left on; finally the Elephant House Coffee House where J K Rowling sat and worked on Harry Potter. Yes, it was cool.
