Come join us on Tuesday, April 28 at The Reason Center and try something new and exciting. Courtney Wright is going to lead us through the pulled warp technique she learned from Susan Iverson at her 3-day workshop at CNCH. I'll let Courtney tell you about it:
"Greetings: I have been given the opportunity to share a Pulled Warp technique I learned from Susan Iverson. I took her 3 day class at CNCH a few years ago and it's very interesting with a lot of applications, limited only by your imagination. This technique gives us curved cloth, but also, puckers and loops and bowls, etc. To be clear, I am absolutely not an authority on this; I have only some limited experience. But this is so fun and I want to spread my enthusiam! My goal is to inspire you, to serve as a gateway and usher you to a unique and creative way to think of our warps."

What you need to get started and bring that day:
"I will send out some pictures and instructions so we can make a curved piece as an introduction. You'll need a loom but this is a tapestry technique at its core so you can use the simplest frame loom - or even make one. Just get a big rectangular frame about 12" long and simply warp 4-5 " width. You can make 2 curves (or 3) with a little more space.
Use larger yarn for warp - such as 3/2 cotton (ideal) But anything slippery and about this size will be great. Feel free to put in a border or columns of color is you like. For weft, avoid wool unless it is really smooth. Use a larger size weft as we have limited time - just make sure it is also smooth.
Bring paper the size of your weaving - and an additional piece and pencil for taking notes, and ruler. This is a new technique so bring your patience as well. If it seems fun to explore more, I have a fun project we could do together some time or even a SWSG weave along! Wouldnt that be fun. See you then."
Courtney

We'll send out more details as they come in but we wanted you all to have a chance to get your looms ready, your supplies gathered and your enthusiasm stirred up.
Mark your calendars: Tuesday April 28 at 10 am at The Reason Center
