TOUR de FRANCE TOUR de FLEECE TONS of FUN!

Grab your spinning wheels, drop your spindles, card your wool. On your marks! Get set! Spin!!! It is that fun time of year when we follow the Tour de France with our own test of strength: Tour de Fleece. This year's Tour de Fleece runs from July 4th to July 26th and follows the schedule and route of Tour de France. I have the spinning logs printed out and will distribute them at the July 7th spinners meeting. Text or email me if you cant make the meeting - or you can keep your own log and just turn it in to us at the end. I have a wonderful box of prizes to award to those who set a goal and participate. These will be given out at our August spinning meeting.
Set yourself a challenge or goal that you have been putting off. I am going to TRY to spin paper. This was prompted by an article in Spin Off on the subject. So I will be experimenting with a variety of papers. You might like to try finishing a project left in a corner, a new fiber you haven't worked with before, a gift you've been meaning to make.
It is always interesting to see the wide variety of projects our group comes up with.
There are lots of suppost groups to motivate you. If you are a Ravelry person, you can sign up to join their group and share your progress with their members. You can sign up for the Facebook group: I have done that and learned a lot already. Quite often the month of July is so hot you can only stay inside so this is a good time to take on a crafting challenge.
You can find the cheese pairings that accompany the Tour de France on line and I really encourage you to do so: it is hilarious to read the descriptions of some of the cheeses: for instance: Garrotxa is "creamy but not sloppy, earthy but not barnyardy....with just enough tang to keep things interesting". Too much! Wish I could find some of that Garrotxa!
Have some fun with us: choose a project and spin on in.
AND IN FURTHER NEWS: The guild is still looking for someone to be our new Programs Chairman. This can be a really fun job and if you dont think you want to do it alone, maybe find a friend to do it with you. Lizette has kindly set the programs for autumn so you would have to time to settle in. There are always lots of people willing to help so you would not be on your own. Call Sandy, our president, for details and encouragment. Being a board member is really rewarding and I encourage you to give it a try.
And finally, I still have a very nice, sturdy 4 harness loom available for a donation to the guild. It does not have a brand on it and I have never seen one quite like it, but it is very well made and in very good shape. It seems well built enough to handle rug making. It is about 45 inches wide and a nice looking piece of furniture if it needs to go in your living space.
