LET IT FLOW…………….

The October SWSG program and workshop were full of color and motion and learning. Sharlet Elms gave a us a fun and fact filled history of weaving and textiles. She focused on the fabrics "that move" and how they were developed. My favorite was seersucker - how it was developed in India in order to make fabrics that would be cooler against the skin. Denim was also a "fact"-sinating story. We had a good crowd and everyone was interested in our favorite topic: fabrics!!

Sharlet's workshop on Fabrics that Move began immediately following the meeting. She had fibers for everyone to use and choose and warping boards so everyone could jump right in and get started.

The workshop continued for 2 more days at Northminster Presbyterian Church. Each weaver got to choose which fabrics they wanted to work with and the idea was to sample for future projects. Washing the fabrics was another important step as it totally developed what was going on in the weave.

Everyone who attended the program and workshop agreed it was fun and really informative .

How can you go wrong with that?
